‘The hole is also the space occupied by the air we are breathing now, by the sunlight that has taken eight minutes to reach us, and by the starlight that is two thousand years old. In the space inside, or rather, through, the sculpture, time is both present and meaningless – and that is time’s true nature, it does and it does not exist.’ Jeanette Winterson

The physical lightness and transparency of these hollow forms encourage the viewer to physically engage and peer through them. Essentially they let light pass through, creating shadows on the surface it reaches. Since the light we see is always related to past events, it means the past inhabit our space in the present, in the now, and as such the projected shadows are not just evidence of light but also of space and time, independently of the matter they originate from.
