BIOGRAPHY
I am a French visual artist based in the UK. After completing a Fine Art Degree in 2017, I joined the Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum (SVAF), an artist-led community with its own contemporary exhibition space in Sevenoaks, Kent. Additionally, I enrolled in the Fine Art Professional Development (FAPD) program at The Bridge Art School, which brings together a small group of artists fortnightly to review their work and critically engage.
Being part of an art community is very important to me. It provides a valuable platform for discussions with artists from diverse backgrounds and practices, which has been crucial both for the development of my work and personal growth. Our conversations cover a wide range of topics, from exploring new ideas and sharing expertise, to discussing material discovery, organising exhibitions and collaborations.
These reasons also motivated me to volunteer at West Kent Mind and facilitate an art group for four years, a commitment that continued throughout the COVID-19 lockdown. I believe that for individuals coping with mental illness, a strong sense of community and support is even more vital.
The pandemic-induced slowdown was pivotal to my practice, presenting a unique opportunity to explore new mediums. Experimenting with printing filaments as raw materials enabled me to expand my drawings beyond the plane and develop three-dimensional forms. Retaining the aesthetics of the line, this new approach opened yet further possibilities, leading me to explore assemblages and the more sculptural aspects of my current work.
Transitioning from a drawing practice to a three-dimensional approach was a significant development which required a radical review of my studio space. While I have participated in several exhibitions, my three-dimensional practice is still in its early stages. Nevertheless, a cohesive body of work that aligns with my thinking has begun to take shape and I feel prepared to actively seek further exposure.
