Time Capsule – It Never Ends
(back)

I started this piece towards the end of August 21 and added to it almost every day until 29th November 21. From bending the bamboo segments to assembling and painting them, it became a collection of journeys in space and time, an experience of morning walks and/or school runs at dawn and dusk. The colour palette records my fragmented impressions of an autumnal landscape from the jewel like shimmering golden leaves to the damp muddy paths. The recurrent patterns and the looped structure document the repetitive aspect of these imperfect recollections.
As I developed the project further, in June 22, I renamed it to It Never Ends. More segments were manipulated and added and I covered all previously painted layers with copper metal paint. This was a more challenging time in my life when creativity was limited by a lack of mental space and it was just ‘easier’ to develop an existing form and cover it in one concealing layer of metal paint.
