Sculpting the Void, 2023 tulip wood, recycled acrylics, h:63cm x w:96cm x d25cm

This wall arrangement is the result of forces applied randomly along the wood strips. These are held together under tension in a search for balance between space and matter. The arrangement seeks to resonates with our natural world where space facilitates interactions and connections between matter and enable its visibility.

It also made me think of the fabric of spacetime and the ethereal cosmic weave warping in the proximity of dense objects. The denser the objects, the more stretched the fabric gets, until it tears. To draw this parallel makes the work inherently on-going and open-ended. It fits the form which has already undergone two transformations and will certainly evolve further.
